DRY-ROT NIGHTMARES
Traditionally there were two common techniques used for deck ledger attachment.
One was to install a deck ledger with flashing; this approach is time consuming and structurally causes a weak point at the ends of the ledger. Eventually leaks occur due to caulking failure, leading to costly repairs.
Another common technique is to stack washers between the ledger and the existing structure. The washers were stacked top to bottom between the ledger and the structure. With a relatively small surface area, compression is problematic, leading to the ledger twisting away from the structure.
Both of these methods are inferior to our innovative approach.
Off the Wall spacers eliminate the need for large penetrations into the house siding while providing the needed space to protect both your deck and house from decay.
Off the wall spacers have a greater surface area providing full contact with the height of the ledger, eliminating ledger twisting. The open bolt mounting channel accommodates multiple mounting bolts in each spacer providing maximum stability. |
